BRICS Summit में UN chief ने UNSC expansion की मांग का समर्थन किया; India और Global South को ज्यादा representation देने पर जोर।
नई दिल्ली। United Nations के Secretary-General Antonio Guterres ने BRICS Summit में UN Security Council के reform और expansion की मांग का समर्थन किया है। उन्होंने कहा कि मौजूदा global institutions को आज की economic, demographic और geopolitical realities को reflect करना चाहिए।
भारत लंबे समय से UNSC में permanent membership की मांग करता रहा है। नई दिल्ली का तर्क है कि दुनिया की सबसे बड़ी आबादी वाले देशों में शामिल भारत और Global South के अन्य बड़े economies को मौजूदा व्यवस्था में पर्याप्त representation नहीं मिलता।
Guterres ने कहा कि केवल Security Council ही नहीं, बल्कि Bretton Woods institutions और multilateral development system में भी reforms जरूरी हैं। Developing countries को international decision-making में अधिक प्रभाव मिलना चाहिए ताकि global governance ज्यादा balanced और representative बने।
BRICS New Delhi Declaration ने भी India और Brazil की United Nations में बड़ी भूमिका की aspirations को समर्थन दिया है। इससे भारत की लंबे समय से चली आ रही UNSC reform campaign को diplomatic boost मिला है।
Guterres ने climate justice, sustainable financing, AI governance और critical minerals जैसे मुद्दों का भी उल्लेख किया। उनका कहना था कि global challenges का समाधान केवल ऐसे multilateral system से संभव है जिसमें developing nations की आवाज मजबूत हो।
यह बयान भारत के लिए खास तौर पर महत्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि New Delhi BRICS को केवल economic grouping के बजाय institutional reform और Global South representation के मंच के रूप में भी आगे बढ़ाना चाहता है।
